What are the people to do when their leaders abandon them?
American elites have failed us. But they’ve done great for themselves.
Politicians, bankers, academics, union honchos, Hollywood: all of them are doing great, even as they hollow out America and strip it clean.
Meanwhile, they promote government dependency and a victim mentality for the most vulnerable, which solidifies elite power while fostering division and hate.
Yikes!
Even Tough Love needs a break sometimes
Calling for “tough love” is not the same thing as being a scold. With 90 million American adults not in the workforce, it appears America has embraced the proverb that “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” We agree.
But all play and no work brings doom to oneself and one’s nation. It’s time we return to a different motto: “Work hard, play hard.”
We all need fun in our lives. This section is for random items connected by one theme: they must be inclined to bring joy to people.
So, no: TL4A is not going soft. We believe Tough Love can coexist with Good, Clean Fun.
Turn off the TV and get to work
We watch too much TV. It’s not good for our physical health, it’s not good for our minds, it’s not good for our children, and it makes the wrong people richer.
TV-monitoring company Nielsen reports that the average American watches just over five-and-a-half hours of television, every day of the year. That’s more than 2,000 hours a year, equal to 50, 40-hour work weeks. Watching TV is a full-time job! A few more stunning statistics:
- Nielsen reports children between the ages of 2 and 11 watch more than 24 hours of television a week. (How many hours do you think they read a week?)
- Nickelodeon says those born after 2005 are watching 35 hours per week.
- African-Americans watch an average of 218 hours of TV a month, or more than 2,600 hours a year.
